Changes in limit of duty free import as baggage in Budget 2014-2015

There are changes in Custom Baggage Rule 1998 in Union budget 2014-2015.

a.       The limit on duty free import as baggage has been enhanced with effect from 11/07/2014 as follows:

1.       Articles up to Rs.45, 000 other than personal effects can be imported by a passenger of and above 10 years provided such passenger has returned after staying aboard for more than three days.

2.        Articles up to Rs.17, 500 other than personal effects can be imported by a passenger of and above 10 years provided such passenger has returned after staying aboard for three days or less.

b.      The quantity of duty free import of certain items have been reduced as follows with effect from 11/07/2014:

1.       For Cigarettes from 200 to 100 numbers.

2.       For cigar 50 to 25 numbers.

3.       For tobacco from 250 gms to 125 gms.
